D&D Mini Storage was started by the Deike family in Fredericksburg in 1976, with the construction of 52 regular storage units on Morning Glory Drive. At that time this location was considered to be out in the country but over time has come to be within the Fredericksburg city limits. This site was expanded several times over the course of the next 35 years, adding 210 regular units and 88 climate-controlled units. The Morning Glory location now totals 350 units.
Our second location (on Industrial Loop, off Hwy 290 East) was added in 1988 and consists of 110 regular storage units.
D&D Mini Storage is a family operated business, owned by D&S Interests Ltd. The Deike family has been in the Fredericksburg area for 4 generations.

Q: Will I be able to access my unit at any time?
A: Yes, if necessary. However, we kindly request that customers access their units during daylight hours for the safety and security of all. These hours are typically 7am-7pm, but vary with the seasons. If you'd like to access outside these hours, please call 830-997-4876. Thank you.
Q: Can I access my storage unit with a truck?
A: In most areas there is enough turning room to maneuver a truck.
Q: What is the temperature range for the climate-controlled units?
A: Our climate-controlled storage buildings are regulated so that the unit temperature does not exceed 85°F or cool to less than 55°F.
Q: I have some tall items - what is the height of the units?
A: In general, each unit is 8' in height. The actual height will vary depending on the storage unit you have selected.
Q: I have some wide items - what is the dimension of the access doors?
A: The access door to each unit is generally 6'6" high. The width of the door will depend on the size of storage unit you have selected. Most units have either a 4' or 8' wide door. The 5' x 5' and 5' x 10' units each have a 3' wide door. The entrance door to the climate controlled buildings is 4' wide.

GENERAL:
Make a complete list of all goods stored. It may help to keep sales receipts, any proof of purchase, owner's manuals and warranties that prove your ownership of your items. These records should be kept in a safe place away from your storage unit.
Prepare your storage unit - consider storing all boxes and furniture on wooden pallets or on boards placed on the floor of the storage place.
Maximize your space usage - for example, you can use the space inside large appliances and other items to store smaller items.
Stack thoughtfully - it can help to use boxes that are the same or similar in size. Stacking is often easier if the boxes are full and stacked with the heaviest boxes on bottom. This way the boxes are less likely to be crushed.
What will you need to access at a later date? Consider putting your often-needed items towards the front of the unit and other items towards rear of the unit that you are less likely to get out.
Label your boxes - if you write a word or two description of the contents on the outside of the box, you may be less likely to need to pull out its contents.
Never store hazardous materials such as flammable liquids in your unit. Food items will attract pests that may cause damage to other items in your unit.
Avoid using plastic to wrap your belongings for storage - paper products (when available) such as newspaper, are better suited for storage.
Store your expensive items in the back of the storage unit and place larger, less movable items (such as furniture and beds) in front of them.
Wrap your precious and breakable items with bubble wrap/newspaper/towels and place them in boxes that are at the top of a stack.
